Deagostini's Combat Tanks Collection

I am currently collecting the Deagostini Combat Tanks Collection , available from your local newsagent or by subscribing to Bissett Magazines in Australia , each fortnightly issue includes a magazine and a 1/72 scale die cast / plastic model housed in a plastic display case , at around $19.99 per issue it is quite good value , extra binders for the magazines and display cases are available to purchase from the distributor.
Back issues are available and this is appealing to wargamers and colllectors who can order multiple units of tanks.
After consultation with the Combat Tanks Collection forum members Deagostini announced that models from the Panzer Collection would be merged with the current collection taking it to over 100 AFV's
Quality is good overall , lower hulls in metal and turrets and adds on done in plastic , not as good as Dragon or Hobby Master some may say though they do have some extra detailing others dont , parts fit is the major letdown for this collection along with the odd wonky wheel.
For sheer variety , nothing beats this collection for the price in my opinion.

My collection so far:

  1. Hi,
Was a Combat Tank Collection subscriber but only collect German WW2 vehicles so was gettign a tad expensive. I noticed you mentioned being able to get back issues as I'd like to get their German stuff. Deagostini weren't interested in assisting so wondered if you could help me find a way of obtaining some of these- or is it possible!!

    Ta. Marcus

  2. Hi Marcus , if you are in the UK you can order back issues from Deag , if you are in Australia you can get back orders by contacting Bisset Magazines , the links are above ^
A lot more German stuff appears in the collection after issue 41 as the Panzer Collection is merged into the original CTC collection , also a lot of the models are appearing on Ebay but beware of some real cheap arse copies from Poland

  3. Thanks Steve - will give it a shot!!!

    much appreciated!!

  4. also try the US site where you can get the extra models

  5. Thanks to all but finally "cracked it" by approaching a newsagent and handing him a list of the German WW2 vehicles I was after - apparently as long as your newsagent is a Gordon & Gotch affiliated one (in Oz) you are in business!!!
Whew! Mind you forget going through Bissett or De Agostini - trust me!!
    Thanks again

  6. Good stuff mate , my newsagents told me G and G were impossible to deal with and told me to order any extras through Deag or Bissett , might ring em myself and sort something out

  7. I see that it is now 110 issue for the completed collection. I don't really want all the German stuff does anyone know when the original collection stops? i.e. at what issue?

  8. The Panzer Collection is being merged into the CTC Collection from issue 41 onwards leaving about 20 tanks still to collect , some are dropping out of subscribing and using the back order service and Ebay to finish the collection , bit of a marketing ploy that no one got to vote on :|

  9. number 50 seems to have been bumped and the steyr brought forward.

  10. Yeh another minor change to the collection with no notice :|

  11. have you seen the 1:16 tiger which is starting to appear in newsagents steve?

  12. Yeh I have , a couple of the guys at CTC in the UK are building them at the moment , they seem pretty happy with them despite some minor mistakes , bit pricey for me it's the cost of a shitty second hand car lol

  13. This comment has been removed by the author.

  14. In NZ Whitcoulls will order you back copies, or just the models you are after

  15. Considering that they were covering the history of tanks from the beginning,I'm very disappointed that there are no WW1 tanks such as the A7V,Whippet,Male,Female

    1. I am also dissapointed about the lack of WW1 tanks. Especially when trucks and artilery are being pushed into the TANK collection

    2. so was I wot about ww1 tanks after all that's were it all started

  16. hear that there is another issue all about helicopter with free model too ,

  17. It is not just WW1 tanks that are lacking.

While there are several versions of Tiger 1 and various obscure German A and B vehicles (sorry, but a gun tractor is not a tank - unless it is armoured it is not an A vehicle either) there are also notable gaps in WW2 tanks. Where is the Vickers Mk VI Light, the most numerous British tank at the start of WW2 (albeit not a world beater). Where are the early British cruisers, which carried the initial weight in the Western Desert? Where is the Soviet T-26, or its predecessor the Vickers 6 tonner? Both were made in both two and one turret versions, and the Soviets had thousands of them in 1941 (and lost most in the initial charge of Barbarossa). Where are the various Japanese light tanks, including ampibians, which had such an inpact in 1941-41 (and earlier than that in China)?

The fact that a Panzer collection has been smashed into the overall collection may explain much, but did it really improve things - except for the Panzer fans.

  18. The UK collection has now reached 110. I was told by my newsagent there would be 110 but as issue 111 is advertised on the back of the magazine the 120 issues now looks more likely. I would like to see the Char B (which I believe was available for French collectors). Otherwise I will have to buy it for a tenner plus on Amazon in one of the various versions advertised.

  19. I think the most obvious missing tank is the Valentine. It seems to be the one that many manufactures leave out yet it was so very numerous during the war

  20. thanks for the collection but how cum there was no british mk I tank and wy so many german tants
